Staying about the same...
Went camping last weekend and overindulged a bit, not bad though, so i'm still hanging out at the same loss, between 5-7 lbs depending on the day, but i'm happy with that and i'm back on my diet and i'm sure some more will start to come off.
I have another appointment tomorrow along with a nutrition review class. The class is about the eating and requirments after surgery, the stuff the dietician already went over with me but this is a reminder class for everyone to bring up questions and to reinforce what we "should" already know. I'm sure the class will be geared more towards those having the "traditional" bypass and the lap bands but I will hopefully benefit from the discussion just the same.
I'm getting nervous that i havn't heard from the insurance company yet. I will be asking at the office tomorrow what their thoughts are on it. They had stated they expected to have an approval by this appt. so i'm getting nervous there is some sort of hold up. I'm staying optimistic, but at the same time i keep feeling like a ticking clock, when is the approval coming, when will the surgery be, etc etc.

Heading camping....
This is the hardest for me....camping is always laden with snacks and "camping" food - not necessarily the heathiest for me.
So, my plan is to not deprive myself but to watch out for the biggest pit falls - no beer or carb containing beverages, limit my carbs as much as possible, drink my water every day and just enjoy my weekend.
I'm down 6 1/2 from my last appointment so i'm doing well. As long as i try my best i'll be happy :-)

Feeling inspired this morning..
I have now lost 6 1/2 lbs since my last appointment (2 weeks ago) YEAH! I'm struggling a bit craving something sweet but so far i have no given in more than a little bit of chocolate syrup in some skim milk. I have eaten some carbs every day but I am trying my best to keep them to a minimum. I'm totally in LOVE with the low carb whole wheat wraps they sell at Sam's Club. I've made them into wrap sandwiches, pizza pockets, quesadillas & tacos. At 6 net carbs per wrap they are a fantastic alternative to bread and other starchy items for me.
Anyway why am i feeling inspired today you ask? Well i was reading on the DS (Duodenal switch) message board and a lady that had surgery in November of 2008 has lost 201 lbs. She started at 380 and now weighs 179 in not quite a year and a half. She was saying how great she feels, how much energy she has and she can fit in a size 14/16. WOW! I mean i read stories like this literally ALL THE TIME on that board, but this one really hit me today, that could be me. By the end of 2011 I could actually be shopping for clothes in a regular section. How friggin awesome would that be?

Still plugging away...
I am down 5 1/2 lbs since my visit last tuesday! YEAH! I am drinking over 100 oz every day, with the exception of yesterday when i went to Syracuse with mom and didn't want to have to pee alongside 81 every 30 miles, LOL. I'm doing very well at limiting the carbs. So far i havn't had too many carb cravings, so that's good. I find keeping my hands busy with sewing or knitting really helps a lot too. As well as having my full water bottle within reach at all times.
Havn't heard anything on my approval, but didn't expect to this quickly. I assume late this week at the very earliest and even then i would be surprised. Maybe next week is my hope, we shall see.

I'm really getting a great start on this month...I can totally do this...
Yesterday i drank 104 oz of water, that's right 104, holy moly. I sure did spend a lot of time in the potty, but that's okay with me.
In the last 3 days i've lost 4 lbs, yup 4 lbs...isn't that AWESOME...i can do this!!!!

94 ounces of water...
Yesterday i drank 94 oz of water. I am having a lot of success getting in lots of water by using the Crystal Light flavor packets. They are sugar free, no calorie and what not, but because they have splenda (or some form of fake sugar) in them it really tricks your taste buds into thinking you are having a sugary drink. I dilute them in twice the water as the directions though and they are still super sweet.
Anyway my goal is 64 oz a day but would like to keep above that if possible. So after my morning coffee it's water, water, water.....

Letter is being submitted to insurance...
Okay so i've met all the requirements, had all the consults and testing done so the letter is being submitted to my insurance company for approval, YEAH!
My dr wants to try and really lose some weight this month though, she really feels i need to focus on what my diet will be like after surgery - meaning high protein, very low carb. She feels i am just not mentally there yet, and i do agree with her. So it's on like donkey kong, so to speak and the carbs are going by by, for me anyway.
I have my next presurgery thing on June 7th which is the nutrition review class, where we go over in detail the first month post surgery and what we can eat, need to eat. My approval may come before that meeting, and if it does then the surgeon's office will call me and book my surgery date. I'm crossing my fingers for sometime in June, however since they don't deal with my particular insurance often, they have no idea how long it will take to get my approval. She said some insurances it's short and only a few days, some it's weeks before the approval comes through.
So for now I am focusing on 3 things with regard to my diet - #1drinking minimum of 64 oz of water per day #2 Thinking protein first at every single meal #3 lowest possible carbs and those that i do eat need to be whole grain type carbs .....
I really have to stop having the mentality of "well i'm not going to eat this post surgery so i might as well have it now"...in the weight loss surgery "community" that's called the "last supper syndrome".
So here we are, waiting for insurance approval and adapting to my post surgery diet while i wait.
I'm still nervous and excited all at the same time!
