Struggling a bit....at kind of a "stall"

I'm struggling a bit...the carb monster has bitten me lately...not bad but i've definately indulged in a bit more carbs most days than i should. But i'm working through it and trying to get myself back on track, it's hard because once you induldge in the damn carbs you crave them more. Never ending battle i'm afraid.
BUT the good news is I went for my first good walk of the spring yesterday and I can notice such a difference in the pace i can keep walking and not be out of breath. It felt really good to stretch my leg muscles. I do however continue to have issues with my fibromyalgia flaring up at the slightest exercise i'm in agony, but i'm pushing through and keeping going. Plan to check out the Y this weekend and see about joining as a family for the year.
Hoping that my increase in exercise will spur me to start losing more again. My losses have definately slowed way down and even though I'm thrilled with my weight loss so far, i'd like to keep up the steady losses for at least the next 6 months.

6 month post op visit yesterday

Was given an A+ grade by the NP. She was very impressed with my weight loss, eating, vitamin intake, fluid intake, etc. Said i'm doing everything right. We talked about getting more exercise, which was my plan anyway. Good visit all in all. Go back in June for a 9 month follow up, i was thinking i wouldn't have to go back till 1 year, not sure why i thought that. Oh well at least i don't have to worry about snow and cold going up in June (I hope anyway!!)

6 Months! WOW!

So it's been 6 months since my surgery, can't believe it!
STATS -
I've lost a total of 90 lbs and 45"!!!! Simply amazing, no other words can describe it.
I'm so glad i had this surgery.
I have a goal of 199, just because i want to be less than 200 lbs....and 90 lbs puts me exactly 1/2 way there :-)

I have my official "6 month" visit with ADK next week. I feel like i'm doing very well. I know i will need to have my labs checked again.

My only "complaint" is i'm losing a lot of hair all of a sudden, it's getting pretty thin on top, gonna look like John soon if it keeps up. BUT, it's a very tiny price to pay for the health and confidence i'm gaining! Plus, it will grow back anyway!

Nearing 6 months post op

I'm nearing the 6 month mark. I am down 86ish pounds. Loving it. Still having issues with my fibromyalgia flaring up with the weather changes or too much exercise. But i am still working at it, and that's what matters most :-)

Hoping to reach 90 lbs lost before my next appointment w/ doctor's office. It's on March 9th. Ideally i wanted to be at 100 lbs lost at 6 months but ideal is just that, and i'm realistic there's no way i'll lose another 14 lbs in just over 2 weeks, so i'll be happy with 90 lost if i get there.

5 month Pictures

These are my before pictures from 9/1/10 and my picture today. Yes i'm standing outside in 14 degree weather in my slippers LOL

5 months

In 5 months i have lost 80 lbs and a total of 36 3/4" !!!!!!!!
This past month has been a lot slower with the weight loss, i've lost only 7 lbs BUT another 5 1/2". Overall I'm THRILLED, couldn't be happier. Would like to see at least a 10 lb loss next month. Really need to work on upping my exercise and keeping the carbs in check, i've gotten a bit too lax in letting the carbs sneak in, which is probably why i've had a slower weight loss month.

As always thanks so much to everyone for all the support!!! Will have an updated picture later today :-)

1 lbs loss this week....flirting with the 200's

I've been super excited this week hoping to see my weight go from the 300's to the 200's which is HUGE for me! But my body is slow this week and I only had a 1 lb loss. But 1 lb is 1 lb and I'm gonna be happy with it!
So hopefully next week will be the big week for me!!!
78 1/2 lbs gone - who would have thought i could do it! WOW

I am up over 75 lbs lost now. WOW, just WOW.

Now i'm flirting with a HUGE HUGE HUGE goal of being under 300 lbs. i'm currently 2 lbs away from 300 and once i see that "2" i am hoping to NEVER EVER EVER see a "3" at the beginning of my weight again!

What is with the "stigma" ...

that losing weight without "having to have surgery" somehow makes people more superior?

I am so sick of snide little comments from people who have been successful losing weight in other ways that they "did it without surgery."

Well great, good for you! No matter how you lose weight you are successful. Traditional diet and exercise work for a lot of people, they did NOT work for me. I was fighting an uphill battle of PCOS, which changes your hormones & insulin levels such that it makes it near impossible to lose. I also have fibromyalgia which greatly impeeds my ability to exercise regularly without horrific nerve pain. And i admit it, i didn't have the will power to stay on a diet, i was easily discouraged. BUT just because i had surgery doesn't mean that your weight loss is somehow "superior" to mine! Trust me my diet now is 100% harder than any diet i've been on in my life.

Weight loss surgery is a TOOL! It is not a guarantee. It's a tool to weight loss, just like any other weight loss tool, if you don't use it, you will FAIL. If i eat the things i'm not supposed to i will NOT lose weight. I have to stay on a specific diet w/ little leeway. Yes my diet is much more forgiving than many diets because i do not have to watch my fat intake. But I chose this surgery knowing that i could live with the dietary changes.

So PLEASE, those that are reading, get your facts straight, educate yourself on what weight loss surgery really is and know that I am not in some magically induced weight loss that is only the results of surgery, yes for sure the surgery has made this possible, but without my very hard work i wouldn't be successful.

If you are so incredibly insecure that making snide comments about my surgery makes you somehow feel superior and more "successful" than me, well I'm gonna take the high road from now on and feel sorry for you and your insecurities!
